...guess what's coming to the Nintendo DS this winter? Yup, Crono and his friends are bringing their fight to save their world to Nintendo's handheld. http://na.square-enix.com/ctds

I'm just hoping it's the original SNES version, which it seems to be.

I think Ogre still has the original SNES version, but I know for a fact we have the PS1 version, which was bundled with the PS1 version of Final Fantasy IV.
I wonder how much they'll play up the fact that the character designs are by Akira Toriyama. When the game first came out, only the most hardcore of anime nerds knew who he was...now I could see them splashing a great big "CHARACTER DESIGNS BY THE CREATOR OF DRAGONBALL Z!!!!!!!!!!" banner on it.

When they released a version for the Playstation 1, they added cinematic scenes in his animation style instead of in CGI like they usually do for the Final Fantasies. It was pretty sweet.

They seem to be porting a lot of old games for the DS and other platforms these days. The version of Chrono Trigger for the DS is a remake, just like the version of FFIV that just came out.

Looks like a straight port of the SNES to me. Sure hope so, as the PS1 port sucked. The slowdown made it very difficult to enjoy, although the animated scenes were sweet (and actually helped advance the story).
